Sane Bike Loony Rider: Ep3 The Century Mark

In the story of the ride I'm about to share with you, there will be a lot of moments where you may think I'm too crazy for my own good and simultaneously impressed with my level of determination to do what I want to do. But above all, I hope you enjoy reading about this ride and can share my experience. So, after confirming my participation for the long ride on Sunday, I went out to get myself some cycling shorts. Now, I maintain that they do feel a bit odd to wear, but are absolute necessary for long rides. Now, I'm sure you've got some idea of how long this ride was from the headline, but to be exact, this was going to be 110km ride. Yep, I was going on a 100k+ ride a day after the max I'd ever done was a 30k ride. This would seem like a bad idea to anyone with a bit of common sense, but I decided to go ahead with it, especially since I'd been invited to it gave me confidence that I was ready for it. This was gonna be a loong ride, so earlier start aka 5

Sane Bike Loony Rider: Ep2 Sankey Tank

So, weekend is here, time for new obsession, cycling. Same old, 5:45 AM start, so out of the house by 5:30, this time equipped with a water bottle and nifty little bag from Decathlon. I was carrying the Sony cam, with the wide angle lens, simply because its lighter than lugging the heavy Nikon D3200 while riding. The destination was a place called Sankey Tank, which is simply a small water rerservoir(man made), and the group was smaller than last week. Except for the core group, they were all new faces. More interesting people. We were joined by a couple who too were cycling enthusiasts. The ride was fun, going through streets I had rarely if ever gone on before, and not too tiring. The destination was buzzing with walkers and joggers, early enough to enjoy the sun. The place itself was quite nice and peaceful(except for the people), the clean waters, the ducks, the lone fountain and even the horde of pigeons at the feeding area was nice. The stop was a bit longer tha

I like to ride. I've always enjoyed cycling, and its healthy exercise too, so double win. For my regular readers, you'll know I have now shifted to Bengaluru for work and stuff. For the rest, I moved from Delhi to Bengaluru a lil over 2 months ago, yes. So, I no longer have my car to drive around to take my mind off troubles and no car to drive here. But I have been able to pick up an old favorite of mine. Now, I've been using my uncle's cycle to ride a bit for a few weeks now but it was starting to get boring to ride the route by myself and I didn't know how best to plan routes around the city. So, I asked my aunt and she told me about this group which goes cycling every weekend. I got in touch with them last Friday, through Facebook. The group is called Pedal in Tandem, and they're a nice bunch of people. Cycling enthusiasts, some fitness trainers and one a professional artist too. I haven't really gotten around to remembering all the names and knowing

Parapro...Paraprodsk...Oh, Just Read It

Hey! An acquaintance of mine shared this with me and I thought I'd share them with you lot. Go on, have a read: Paraprodsdokians (No, I'm not sure how to pronounce it either) Paraprosdokians are figures of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected and is frequently humorous. 1. Where there's a will, I want to be in it.   2. The last thing I want to do is hurt you.... but it's still on my list.   3. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.   4. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.   5. We never really grow up.... we only learn how to act in public.   6. War does not determine who is right, only who is left.   7. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.   8. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.   9. I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

69 Days Later

It has been 69 days since I left Delhi to live and work in Bengaluru. I got an internship with a start-up in this new city, with a new type of work folio that was still mostly alien to me(and still is). I'm getting a decent stipend considering my earlier employers and I still manage to be broke by the end of every month. With no personal transport to drive around in, my driving soul feels choked, even though this city is worse than any I've seen till date in terms of road infrastructure. So I took up an old hobby, cycling. Every weekend, wake up early enough to avoid the hordes of maniacal buses and retarded cabbies to go for a long ride and I can do something I enjoy and feel proud of. With time, I may even build up the strength and enthusiasm to go on to cycle long distance routes up to a hundred kilometers. But that's a long while away and depends on where I am a few months from now.  69 days away from my guitars, and the longing has started to kick in, with th

The Joke is on Whom Exactly?

Okay, now to get on board with the support for comedy against sensitive religious dickheads. Case in point, comedian Kiku Sharda was doing a sketch on a TV show about a well known religious leader with many violent accusations against him. Kiku was imitating Dera Sacha Sauda chief  Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, or as I remember him, that fuckwit who did those nauseating, awful movies and has a large following of some of the biggest twats in the country.  Now, I didn't watch it and am not a particular fan of Kiku's comedy. But I don't see how he could have made Ram Rahim look even more ridiculous than he already is. But some of his twat head followers took offence by the mimicry and filed a case against him, under Section 295-A of the IPC( outraging religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief). Oh, this was is Haryana by the way where most of the state government's political members have major criminal cases against them. And there

A Change in Employment and Cities

Okay, so as most of the people who read my work already know, I am no longer working or living in Delhi or Noida or Gurgaon. Nope, I got so sick of that shit that I went straight to Bangalore(or Bengaluru if you prefer). Well, not exactly for those reasons, but yea, am out, and just in time it seems. I have left behind the high fly life of working with some of the best ad agencies in the business and decided to follow a bit of Jack Ma's advice. I am now interning for a start-up based in Bangalore, called Money View. who have been doing extraordinarily well, and are in the process of amping up their marketing activities. Okay, so I've simply switched sides and now am on the client side. These guys have a finance app for the android market, with an iOS version long overdue. I'll put a link for the website and app page at the end of the post, so you guys can check it out. I'll just give you a frank overview of what it does. As we pitch it, the Money View app is Your Per

The Odd Choices that affect the Even Minded

Delhi's Odd-Even rule regarding traffic congestion to reduce pollution levels has been a hot potato, with some trying to claim its success and others trying to distance themselves from it. If you haven't been paying much attention to the news, heres a brief on what it was. From 1st to 15th January of 2016, the AAP govenrment in New Delhi implemented a traffic law in its testing phase that allowed only the cars with even numbered plates to enter the city on even days, and odd numbered ones to enter on odd dates. Of course there were exemptions for public transport and emergency vehicles, and exceptions for emergency situations. Makes sense right? Wait, it was also not valid for women drivers, single mothers, two wheelers, CNG cars and a few more. Okay, now you're taking a piss. While most people followed this god awful policy, it did result in fewer cars on the road and fewer jams. But at the end of it, lets see if it achieved what it said it was supposed to, lowerin
